Tamil Nadu’s new-age business houses line up for IPOs

A number of Tamil Nadu-based companies are preparing to launch their initial public offerings (IPOs). The trend is being led by Erode-based dairy brand Milky Mist and Chennai's Lalithaa Jewellery, which have already gone public this year. Other firms such as Garuda Aerospace and Sathya Agencies are also expected to join the list soon.

SK Hynix's CEO, Kwak Noh-jung, has said that the company is open to more semiconductor investments in the US. The statement comes as he predicts a global memory chip shortage until 2030. "We are always open (for more investment), but nothing has been decided," Kwak told reporters after the groundbreaking ceremony for an advanced packaging plant in West Lafayette, Indiana.

India's Beauty and Personal Care (BPC) market is set to witness a massive growth from $23 billion in FY26 to $42 billion by FY31. This will make India the fourth-largest BPC market in the world by 2030, according to a report by Aditya Birla Capital. NASA has successfully launched its latest space telescope, the $4.3 billion Roman Space Telescope, on its way to its observation point. The mission was carried out by SpaceX with a Falcon Heavy rocket from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The telescope is named after the late Nancy Grace Roman, NASA's first chief astronomer and a pioneer in the field of space science.

Statins, commonly used cholesterol-lowering drugs, could cut the risk of dementia by as much as 15%, a long-term study has found. The research showed that starting statin treatment earlier in life further decreases the chances of developing this debilitating disease. The findings were presented at the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) congress in Munich and published in the Lancet Regional Health Europe journal.

Indian Bank plans to expand its operations by opening around 100 new branches in the current fiscal year, according to PTI. The expansion will mainly focus on the Central and Western regions of India. The bank also plans to recruit around 2,500 employees as part of this growth strategy and to replace those retiring from service.
